Lynn Reese Memorial Bike Tour 2024

It has been a little over a year since the last ride that Ken and Lynn Reese took on the Katy Trail — a fitting time for family and friends to get together to ride the inaugural Lynn Reese Memorial Bike Tour.

The invitation came by text, and it was spread around our friends and family as an open invitation.

“As many of you know, Lynn and I used to go on a lot of overnight bicycle trips. We called them bications and we would take them whenever we had a chance and the weather looked good. Over the last ten years, we had the pleasure of riding in over 21 states doing anywhere from 1 to 7 day trips. We weren’t campers so they would be what are called credit card trips where we would stay in motels, or B and Bs, and purchase our food. These bications were always on what are called rail trails where we never had to deal with motor vehicles or steep hills. Now I am planning on taking another pretty simple one and inviting some of you who have shown interest in what we used to do. — Hopefully, this will be the first of many over the next several years.” - Ken

So on May 3, 17 of us met at the Boonville Trailhead of the Katy Trail and set out on our first 32 miles together to Columbia, MO. Ken Reese, Jim & Margaret Reese, Max & Kim Reese, Lynn’s Brother Chris Garde, Isaac Reese & his son Frank, Aly Reese, Eli Reese, Levi Reese, Joanna Reese, Drew Reese, Spencer Reese, Peter Schulte (Garde cousin) & his daughter Lucy., and family friend Chad Mendenhall. We rode 64 miles in total.

Heaven really seemed to take notice of our first bike tour together remembering Lynn. The trail conditions were great with songbirds flying across the trail, wild roses and honeysuckles — and we were blessed with bluebird skies when rain was forecasted on our return trip on Saturday. God is so good.

I hope you are inspired to get on your bike, spend time with family and friends, do hard, fun things, and praise the Lord while doing them - for Lynn.
